We//Are//Animal
Sep 29, 2010
Dead Young & Oporto present, as part of our 2010 freshers week celebrations...WE//ARE//ANIMAL
The Welsh troopers return to Leeds after the release of '1268' on Dead Young Records' latest offering: the Dead Young Club Volume 2 (more info on link below). This time they will be celebrating the release of second single 'Black Magic' which was just posted on NME's Daily Download blog (again check below). All their tracks are recorded by Owain 'Claw' Ginsburg on a broken boss 8 track amidst the quarries and forests of North Wales, creating some of the most exciting lofi/alt/rock music we've ever heard. Gaining praise from press (The Fly, Artrocker, Time Out) and radio (Radio 1, 6 Music, XFM), these guys are definitely ones to watch in the run up to the release of their debut album later this year. Oh and watch out for the piss-pints...

"If there is a band who are most likely to throw a cup of their own wee into the crowd then it’s WE//ARE//ANIMAL" - HUW STEPHENS RADIO 1

THE HEEBIE JEEBIES
Eclectic eccentric Sheffield 3-piece The Heebie 'Fuckin' Jeebies also return to Oporto with their own unique blend of Afro-beat/Indie courtesy of the fabulous 'Everything On Toast Records' (who are also spinning some tunes for us). Guaranteed to get your feet moving. Check out their video for 'Misery Guts' on our blog created by "Guru's of optical nuisances" Blame Television. I don't know what they're on but I want some.

MOODY GOWNS
Honing their craft during their student years in Leeds, Moody Gowns play a quirky brand of Indie/Pop that demonstrates a wide range of influences including (dare I say it) tinges of Jazz. Don't let that put you off though, this is a bold, joyful, energetic band who've thrown away the musical rule book, and who play with the youthful exuberance that makes you dance like noone's watching. They've also put up some demos on SoundCloud that you can grab for free which is nice of them.
