Leeds Conservatoire songwriting course presents a night of past & present talent…

Esme Bridie

https://www.esmebridie.com/
Alumni Esme creates raw and honest songs with intricate guitar lines and emotive vocals. Her lilting singer-songwriter style is characterized with elements of jazz, rock and pop. Esme writes about hope, feminism and resilience. Her music is delicate yet at the same time, strong. In her live shows the young performer draws audiences in with her touchingly personal style and entrances them with exciting guitar lines and driving band arrangements.

Tinesha Kinley

Gritty yet pretty – Tinesha Kinley combines the perfect mix of moody alt rock and twinkly indie pop. Her distorted guitar lays the foundation for her soft vocals and confessional songwriting to rest upon. Inspired by artists like Phoebe Bridgers, The Japanese House and Japanese Breakfast, her gut-wrenching yet playful and witty lyrics take centre stage.

In the Isle of Man, her bedroom pop origins began in her childhood bedroom with her debut single, Eye Candy. Now based in Leeds, her debut EP (to be released this year) reflects this move from a small town to the city, sounding more mature and commanding.

“the [Isle of Man] is home to a huge number of talented musicians and in that group of people we can include Tinesha Kinley” – IOM Today

Matthew Gray

Matthew Gray is a Leeds based singer, songwriter and guitarist.

He has been through many stages while forming his musical style, from heavy metal to jazz, pop to musical theatre. Through each of these stages Matthew has learnt something and he has taken inspiration from these styles to crave and create the music he does today.

One of his biggest inspirations is Jason Mraz’s early music. It helped him develop his love for the acoustic guitar and to this day, it’s still his favourite instrument. However Matthew occasionally plays the bass guitar and piano. Currently his inspirations are Ben Abraham, Amos Lee, Lizzy McAlpine, John Mayer and more.

Matthew has opened shows for the likes of Ramin Karimloo, Pete Murray and The Dunwells. He has also released “On Hold”, a single by his pop-rock band – Aerogami. With the vast portfolio of songs under his belt he plans on releasing his debut EP in 2022.

During his time in the UK he has decided to follow a songwriting path. In order to learn more about this subject of songwriting, he transferred his studies to Leeds Conservatoire, where he is still studying today.

Luna Wood

https://open.spotify.com/artis…

Luna Wood is a 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Birmingham. She writes country/folk infused pop-mostly acoustic in the singer/songwriter genre. She loves to write about themes such as nature, love, family and social inequalities. Her music is rooted in acoustic guitar and piano with the blend of drums, electric guitar and strings. She takes influence from artists such Fleetwood Mac, Conan Gray, Joni Mitchell, Tom Grennan and Jamie Cullum. She realised her debut EP in August 2020 which she recorded in her loft at home over lockdown titled ‘Night To Day’ with the title track being called ‘Home Again’. The single was written in Cornwall and explores themes of gratitude, nature, spiritualism and being at one with nature- starting off with a sweet fingerpicked guitar melody; followed by vocals, bass and drums. Furthermore, the rest of the EP discusses issues such as climate change and the way the modern world is changing so quickly around us. She is currently working on her next 5 track EP which will then be followed by a single- to be released early 2022. Her main goals are writing with as many people as possible to develop her style and songwriting techniques and perform as much as she can.

Free entry, live music from 8-10.30pm, bar ’til late.
