Listen as Household Dogs wash over you, pulling you into their own enigmatic world.
Recalling the claustrophobic confines of 80s post-punk and dripping in new wave, the Leeds-based six-piece have been breeding genres, crafting a sound of their very own.
Their influences are apparent. From Echo & The Bunnymen to Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave to Leonard Cohen, all can be heard in the distance of their recordings.
At its core it is storytelling. Rhythms and melodies frame the purring poetic verse from which pastiches of love and desperation, images of modernity, popular icons and Christ-like figures all emerge, swimming from the cathedrals of sound.
Over their short history Household Dogs have become synonymous with their inexorable live performances in which intensity and vulnerability collide, with notable performances at festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Live At Leeds and Wild Paths.
With each release Household Dogs have become more comfortable in their own skin and sound, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the press. With airtime on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6, Amazing Radio and features in online tastemakers such as The Revue and Back Seat Mafia the reach of their music has grown to new heights.
After the successes of 2021, with their largest UK tour to date, a sold-out Leeds headline show, and time spent secluded in the studio, 2022 is the year of the dog. The next 12 months will play host to a string of singles, including the hypnotic ‘Jesus In Leather’ and their debut EP ‘To Be Adored’ due for release on March 5th.
